I presently work at
the NEXRAD Radar
Operations Center in Oklahoma as a Computer Systems Analyst. I
administer the database that contains the requirements for the radar.
This includes developing scripts and processes to make life easier for
those reviewing documents, writing test procedures and tracking
metrics. I also perform
baseline documentation processing and am constantly trying to
streamline the processes involved. My IT career spans 20 years (as of 2006) and includes data processing, tech support, software quality assurance and configuration management. I worked in the computer labs at the University of Oklahoma (go Sooners!) providing computer and programming support to the students and staff for most of my college career. I also held numerous jobs in database/network support at a long distance rebiller company, administrative support at a global engineering company (Simon-EEI Inc) and data processing at the local psych hospital data center whilst in college. My career wasn't always this glamorous (;.). Along with school and my computer related jobs, I always kept a few side jobs including waiting tables, delivering pizzas and chauffering/chefing for a disabled man. I also worked for a modeling agency doing the perfume modeling thing at Dillard's and Foley's; babysat religiously for Fletcher, bartended a few catering gigs, mowed lawns and scooped ice cream (yum!). I received my BBA from OU (majoring in MIS & MGT) in 1995 and then accepted a position at Digital Equipment Corporation in Dallas. I loved working at DEC. It was a great first post-college job even though my time there was short lived. Work there dried up and I sought a job at Laboratory Corporation of America. I started out doing tech support on the client (doctor's office) side at LabCorp, then I moved into software quality assurance on the lab side working with the large laboratory systems. I met a lot of great people in Dallas, but my husband and I wanted to get back to Oklahoma so I found a job working for the FAA with the National Weather Service providing support for the NEXRAD radar system. And that's where I am today....here's a more detailed look at my work history.... |
